Boxee is a unique DVR that records to the Internet instead of a local hard drive. The small box connects to an antenna (included), your Internet connection, and your TV to bring TV channels, DVR, and Internet Apps into the same interface. Cloud DVR service is limited to specific areas.
Boxee enables you to watch Live TV over the air (with an attached antenna) or via a cable TV outlet. The most commonly available and most watched channels on broadcast TV are ABC, CBS, CW, Fox, NBC, PBS, Telemundo and Univision. Many areas (in addition to your local cable provider) also have up to dozens of local channels as well.
Boxee is rolling out Cloud DVR support in some markets and over time we hope to cover most of the US. To see which areas have DVR access, please check here for more info.
Boxee is always developing and adding new applications, Boxee Tv will include Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, Vimeo & Pandora. Check here for more info.
No worries, we will handle this for you. You will be prompted to upgrade when a new version is available whenever you login.
Yes. Boxee only supports an HDMI to HDMI connection to your HDTV.
Boxee Cloud DVR just had a better ring to it. But seriously, we felt that calling the product a DVR made the value of Boxee much easier to understand.
Yes, Boxee can play your local content by connecting your external hard drive to either one of the 2 USB slots on the back of the box. We also support DLNA devices via our File Browser app.
Boxee's web app only shows channels which can stream to the device you're viewing on. We support the most popular channels in each market, but there may be channels which you receive that you cannot see on the web app or record.
If there is a channel in your area that you wish was a Cloud DVR supported channel, please let us know by sending an email to email@example.com with the name, channel number and the call letters (if you know them).
