Javascript Developer Intern
New York CityWe're looking for someone to help us support the Bookmarklet and other various scripts. You'll be in charge of getting as much content as possible onto Boxee.
You should have excellent Javascript skills, know what Firebug is, and a good history with HTML+CSS. Basic PHP and RegEx knowledge is a plus. This is a paid internship.
Lead Application Developer
New York CityThis position is critical for Boxee's strategy to collaborate with partners and redevelop their popular Internet services as applications for the living room -- a real game-changer for TV.
Responsibilities
- Create novel applications and experiences for our content partners
- Help to plan and conceive our API
- Grow and support our third-party developer community through documentation, tutorials and goodwill
Skills
- Must have a hacker's mentality
- Fluent in Python, PHP, JS and XML
- Savvy in API-based development
- Good sense for aesthetics and UX
- Competency with Photoshop (or GIMP)
- Patience and eagerness to help others
Senior Backend Developer
New York CityThis position is essential to create and maintain a new web experience for Boxee. It will be a mixture of Backend and Application development. We're a small team, so the more hats you can wear the better.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute awesome new features that scale
- Help rethink and reshape our internal framework
- Improve and maintain our development environment and release system
- Monitor overall site performance, stability, and health.
Skills
- 3 years experience working on a high volume website
- Fluent in PHP and MySQL
- Strong communication skills
- Expertise with MVC methodologies required
- A history working in a cache-heavy environment required
- An unhealthy obsession with building efficient, clean, and modular code and data structures
- An innate understanding of the issues surrounding large-volume websites and scalability
- Experience creating scrapers and dealing with massive amounts of data
- Experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript is a huge plus
- Plus: Experience with EC2/S3
- Plus: Having a hacking mentality
