Default Boxee + MakeMKV = Audio Sync Problem (Problem with Boxee's decoder)

I've been ripping my TV show DVDs to separate MKV files (since that's the only way right now to get Boxee to recognize the episodes separately). MakeMKV does this perfectly, toss my DVD into the drive (currently the Buffy box set), click on extract, then the episodes (along with the audio tracks, subtitles, and chapters) are tossed into one MKV file within minutes with the original quality of the DVD.

This works great in VLC and Media Player Classic, the problem arises within Boxee. The audio for the video goes out of sync very after a minutes, while it plays perfectly outside of Boxee. I'm not alone in this problem apparently:

I love Boxee, but I'm hoping this bug is fixed soon. Ripping TV eps into separate files is a nightmare otherwise. Thanks!

Yup, they work if converted to ts, BUT there is a minor, yet annoying problem. Since the TV eps are 4:3 aspect ratio, transferring them to ts somehow messes that up and the AR is a bit off, slightly yet noticeably stretched horizontally.

This is using tssplitter with both the AR=source and AR=4:3 settings. I didn't test the ts file anywhere else, so don't know if it's a Boxee only problem.

finally someone else who is having the same problem as I am. I love Boxee and everything it offers. I also have been using MakeMKV and been running into the same problems with the A/V sync issue. Some of my files come out just fine, but others lose sync after a few min. rewinding or fastforwarding a bit, will put them back in sync but a few min later they will work their way out.

are there other programs that can rip a dvd, and run in boxee while keeping the dvd (or close to it) quality?

is this an unwinable battle or will a newer release of boxee be able to fix this issue? any feedback would be great.

boxee = amazing and i can't wait to see what it will hold in the future. Keep up the great work

There's a Jira issue for this:

Vote for it!

If you want to add a comment giving more details or updating the issue with what Boxee versions or operating system you were using, that would probably help too.

Default 4:3 aspect ratio

I have tried this too and the 4:3 aspect ratio is a pain in the butt, I hope there is a better solution to this.
