Hi guys, I finally updated Boxee to the October 20th version and I must say .... OMG ... this software rocks big time !!!

Anyways I am going to go straight to the point, Being a Canadian, I do not have access to Hulu or CBS, now I think I saw a post saying that there is a way for us to type some proxy in a proxy setting in Boxee ....

Can a developer of Boxee please tell me if this is true ... or if mayber there will be a way for us in a future release.

I want to make this thread a heping thread for everyone that would like to find a way to use Hulu and CBS, could we please try to post in this thread to keep it all a one place. :)

Can anyone please help us all out ...
Thanks again

EDIT: I'm sorry just noticed this in the AppleTV thread. I did search for "Hulu" and this came up. The below applies to Macs...

I live in the UK and had never heard of Hulu before. When I heard Boxee now supports it I just had to find out what it is!

Looks pretty good!

Anyway - I've just intalled Hotspot Shield on my Mac at work (not running Boxee) and this manages to fool Hulu.com into allowing crooked-teeth bumbling buffoons (such as myself) to watch.

Anyway - not sure if this will work with Boxee? I think it possibly adds something to Safari - but I'll give it a test run tonight on my home Boxee Mac.

I'm pretty sure it will work pigdog. Hotspot shield will tunnel your UK IP address and change it to some IP from the US as long as you have that program running, even if in background. Then Boxee will load up and recognize that "jinxed" IP address as your own and it will go with it.
Note that you will suffer a great loss in speed of accessing to the regular stuff as everything will be "filtered" by the program . I guess ehehe, at least i found that content takes longer to load.
By the way, this thread here has been discussing exactly the same issue.

Cheers mate!

This does work but some people have reported that hotspot has a download limit. Once you reach this your downloads stop.

I have done some testing of the speed issue and it has a huge affect on your download speed depending on where you are outside the US.

Does anyone have any other suggestions around hiding your IP?

I know Hotspot sheild works on iMac or PC, but does it work on AppleTV ??

Lets say I dont have a iMac or PC ... How do I use Hulu or CBS from AppleTV if I am from outside the USA ??

A proxy setting inside the Boxee interface of AppleTV ???

I really hate to say this but... I think the dev team has bigger fish to fry :(

maybe its not a top priority right now ... but if they pull this off ... imagine .. how many people this option would help out ... we are talking millions and millions world wide ... this would be good for their bussiness with Boxee.

Getting all of the people world wide with all the same options of internet TV would be a stroke of genius.

Or maybe it has to do with legal issues if they pull it off

Hi all!
I am one of those cases of testers who are outside the US and as we all know a few sites do not allow us to watch their content. Obviously enough those are sites with really hot content like the top TV shows and Top movies. They're the "other" networks as someone very nicely put it.
Now, what I came across with sometime ago was another network called NINJA VIDEO that also hosts loads of cool (and up to date) content. Including Movies and TV series also. Now, the thing is that NINJA VIDEO was tough to run on the Atv and most of us who tried it was getting the Error Status: 10 error remember? THe good news is that it's solved! and now I can enjoy a proper variety of long-run choice on my Atv with this beautiful piece of software called Boxee.

Just a few things to take into account.

1- you need to have a script running at startup of boxee called : Veohproxy
2- if you tried this before, you must delete (uninstall) the previous attempt
3- this Veohproxy script is a Python script and if you don't have Python installed on your Atv (you might not have it as it doesn't come by default or even with the Patchstick install) you need to install it.

Please check details on how to successfully install this application on Atv here http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=794&highlight=ninja+video&page=4 check from the 4rth Post from generous member: gaurav

Wishing you all the best and keep on enjoying Boxee
