Hello,

I downloaded Boxee today, started playing with it, and read over the forums. I took my first shot at building an App by tackling LinkTV one of my favorite channels. So far my App supports 9 programs and several hundred hours of programing. I sent an email to LinkTV today to ask permission to use copyrighted material such as their logo, and while I wait for their response and polish up the work that I have already completed I figure I might as well keep going and add more programing. My next task involves integrating YouTube videos into my project. I understand that the YouTube API supports feeds and so I did some digging and found gdata,youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists but this just give me links off to the videos. I tried youtube.com/rss/tags/key+words.rss but that gave me mixed results. I know someone in this community has been successful at integrating YouTube content effectively so my first question is, how do I get a video feed for a play list? My next question involves overwriting default thumbnails for feeds. The feeds available to me come with a generic icon. I would like to create a channel thumbnail for each program in the App menu/default page for usability and aesthetics. If someone can provide guidance on either of these issues it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. I look forward to reading your responses.

Re:playlists - To access the RSS feed for the playlist, just add some RSS query parameters to your API request.

E.g.

If you were using "http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/playlists/[playlistid]"

You can get the feed by using this URI:

Full documentation of the API for the YouTube's gdata interface is available here:

http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/2.0/developers_guide_protocol_api_query_parameters.htm l

AFAIK, YouTube users cannot set an icon for a channel. As a Boxee developer, I've resorted to creating my own channel thumbnails in the RSS feed I generate to compensate. I haven't seen any indication that this is a feature YT plans to add.

Uhmm... Not sure if my question applies to this topic.

What I am interested in doing is (of having someone do this because I am clueless as to show to develop an app for this) to have the thumbnails for the clips display rather than just the logo (screenshot below).

What's strange is that I am also using Miro (testing out both platforms, Miro vs Boxee) and the thumbnails load fine on Miro just not on Boxee :( plz help!

Here's the RSS Feed from Miro: feed://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/news1news/uploads?alt=rss
