EDIT:
Isn't the SEARCH function great?

Broken on Apple TV (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=11139&highlight=hulu) and broken on Linux (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=11258&highlight=hulu).

I'd like to call this the same for OS X...

ORIGINAL POST

Sometime in the last week Hulu on my iMac started getting real funky with the Hulu feeds. This was before the recent update and after my update to 9.14.6992, so that doesn't seem to be it.

For some reason, when I open a Hulu feed, it seems as if there's a "pop up"
coming into frame, out into the corner and past the frame of the monitor. Audio comes through fine and "stop" works on the Boxee control, but that's it.

Has anything happened specifically to the feeds in the last week (not since July, but since early August?

Thanks,
N.

It looks like the issue is cleared as per the above referenced posts - Anyone having luck on OS X?

I am having this issue with my Mac Mini's, two of them in the house.

HULU is working for about the first 20 minutes or so of a show, then you hear a bonk sound, the pictures freezes, the audio continues and you see these outlines of a pop up box animate for a slit second, but no pop up box actually shows up. The bonk sound and animated outlines of the pop up will continue ever few minutes or so with a continued stalled video screen. But as I said audio still works.

This has been going on for several weeks now with my two machines.

anyone else having this issue?

Yes, please flag me for exactly the same problem. I'm running a Mac Mini with 10.6.1. It's happening on most shows on Hulu, e.g., Family Guy. FYI, Netflix is fine.

Any help muchly appreciated because this is driving me nuts!

marcel, seems to me from the noise and pop up frame it is a flash crash of some sort. Seems the internal browser Boxee uses to render the flash player is crashing and thats what causes this invisible error box to pop up. This noise will continue until you turn off boxee (or command-tab out) and click ok on the box. If need be I can try and reproduce the problem and get you the exact error message. Im running 10.5 on a new mac mini. This also happens on my Unibody MBP with 10.6.1

It happens during shows. Usually the pop up crash happens between 10 and 15 minutes of viewing time.

happens during the shows for me as well, however I never kept track of time, when I find a show I know it crashes I will tell you which season and episode it occurs to to see if you can reproduce it. Where are boxee logs located? Maybe theres something in there that would help.

EDIT: I remember it occurring during the daily show, ill give some more info when I get back from class

You kidding me, right? :D

Hulu / TV shows video quality is very choppy, poor quality and not to mention getting stuck all the time. I have Time Capsule b/g/n secured wireless network setup. Not to mention, I constantly check my wireless network speed for my satisfaction and it always pleases me with atleast dazzling download speed of 6 to 8 MB.

I have brand spanking new MacBook Pro and a Intel Mac-Mini with lots of RAM/memory to rock and lots of hard drive space left (for both machines). Although, I've to say that my Apple TV is the 1st gen.

But still, I played HULU on either machine's Boxee - same choppy quality videos. I usually watch only two shows, Fringe and The Hell's Kitchen... is it only me or someone else is experiencing this? Thanks in advance!

marcel heres the test I did, I wanted to see if it had to do with the flash playing video or if it was just flash in general. I started playing this monday's episode of the daily show through Hulu. Paused it about 3 minutes in and let it sit. Sure enough about 15 in the error popped up and I heard the constant bonk sound. From this it seems to me that it doesn't have to do with the actual playing of the video but maybe an error with the flash interface itself? Let me know what else you need.

Friends,

Yes, I'm still having the problem, essentially on every show I watch with Hulu on Boxee. I have managed to watch my shows using the Fancast app, however, and although I don't think the quality or functionality is as good as the home-grown Hulu app, it's still a worthy workaround until the Hulu issue gets sorted.

Cheers!

I have run the show Flashforward S01E02 twice and it does the pop up bonk sound at 20:25 each time.

I commented that the pop up was around 10-15 minutes in a previous post, but this was a best guess. Now each time it happens, I get up immediately and check the time. Every one is really close to 20 minutes.

It is not happening with every show for me. Usually about 60% of the time.

Yes, it continues.
I've just about given up on Boxee for watching Hulu content. It would be ideal if someone could make Boxee load the Hulu desktop inside some sort of shell of Boxee. This would probably solve the pop up problem and the issue of all content showing up. RSS feeds under the current work around do not include all the content that Hulu actually has.

Yes, I totally agree. I actually found this thread yesterday:

http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=12506

Please add a +1 over on that forum to voice your support for extending this to the Mac!

I've been experiencing this too... I think it happened on ever show I tried (lately a lot of Hell's kitchen). However, I'm having issues with Hulu working at all. I start a video and get the intial add, but then the video stream stops. If I hit the pause button the buffer is completely empty and never fills up. With firefox on the same machine the problem doesn't occur (i.e. it's not my internet connection).

Actually, updating my flash player to the latest version helped with the not playing problem, but the alert window problem still exists.

Just thought I'd add that I've experienced the same wierd popup thing where the video stops and it just beeps every minute until you exit out and go back into hulu. It annoyed me enough that i've worked my way through the other mac media centers (plex and zinc basically), but that experience didn't work out so well (zinc interface is too web oriented and not good for couch, plex was working great with netflix and hulu until it decided to crash and lose all the apps. haha).

Anyway, downloaded hulu desktop to get by. I second the motion that if it can't be fixed for whatever reason yet, perhaps just coming up with a way to call the hulu desktop app would be better than nothing.

Most everything else, including netflix, work great. (my son manages to crash boxee with some of the cartoon plugins, not sure if its him or boxee though... :) ).
