View Full Version : File indexing daemon

Boxee is a great media player. I think it would be helpful to have a daemon running in the background to keep the media sources list updated. Currently, it seems to only index when I am running the actual program, and the index doesnt actually stay but instead gets recreated every time I run Boxee. So is that possible to add a background app that keeps the indexes up to date, that way if I close boxee to browse the web or check email, I dont have to wait for boxee to parse all my shared files?

I've asked a similar question and to my understanding there is a daemon running in the background. I sat and watch the media DB after clearing it out one day and it was written to over and over again with boxee closed.

The amount of media that I am indexing does not happen every time boxee runs for certain you may have an issue if everything gets cleaned out on every exit.

i'm not sure this is correct.
the only boxee daemon i know of is the apple remoter poller, on os x...
maybe one of the devs could clear this up?

all said, +1 for the idea... an indexing daemon sounds like a great idea.
