I haven't really had a lot of successes with Boxee on the AppleTV although I've tried to read a bunch of threads in this forum. I had loaded the beta but I'm not able to view any of the TV shows. I am able to list the available shows and some of them even look like they are about to start. For instance, a fox show says Ad Supported, then I get about 10 sec of ad and then the screen locks up). Another instance, I see hulu screen opening in the browser and then it goes full screen but nothing ever seems to display.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, what are the free space requirements?

Ok, I guess applying the advancedsettings.xml seemed to have done something to get past this issue.

Dude, you know you're talking to yourself? That's a slippery slope...

No seriously, glad your problems are being ironed out. It's a bugger working out why it works well for some and not for others... good to hear a success story!

Weird, last night I was getting the same thing (though it has worked before, however choppy). Any hulu show I tried would get to the "Loading..." bar in full screen and make this sound for about a second and then the screen would go black/no sound and not come back. I have the advancedsettings.xml file as described here (have had it for a few weeks) and can not think of anything else that changed and can see it loaded in the log file. As mentioned in another thread I have been suspicious of my wireless connection (using wireless DSL router) but I was able to stream an internet movie at the same time from XBMC (using Navi-X) so it seemed solid enough at the time. I am using a VPN to access Hulu (I am in Canada) but that seems to work (and the quality/speed) when tried in a browser on my laptop is really good (and it has worked before, though choppy in Boxee).

I am so confused....thinking of restoring and starting over though I have really no reason to expect anything differently other than it seems to work better for some people.

EDIT: Worked better this afternoon (EST)...shows started but got the cache error after about 15 minutes.

Thanks Jim. I'm still having some pretty significant problems that affect usability (most of the tv shows don't display, was able to watch a few movies), however, there are some content that I am able to view (with jitter). It's lightyears better than what I could do with the alpha. I'm still feeling my way around the UI (is it me or is the menu SLOW), what content is out there, and whether the performance problems are local or on the other side of the wire.

Followed your advice and for the first time since buying my ATV streams are working on Boxee. All the posts at the bottom were key! Thanks for the help!
