Are you running Beta or Alpha versions of Boxee?

If you are using a Beta version, see other threads on this forum, there does seem to be something not quite right in Boxee Beta.

In the Launcher, can you run xmbc and see if you have the same or different problems using xmbc on ATV to view the same files you have problems with under Boxee.

Are you trying to watch local files? Or online content?

If local? What encoding/container do the files have? If they are HD, then a stock ATV won't play them, whatever programme you use. Currently HD is supported under XBMC via a hardware hack and experimental SVN builds. Probably not ready for most users yet!

If Online? What sites are you having trouble with? Do me a favour... SSH in and issue:

less /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/Flash\ Player.plugin/Contents/Info.plist | grep "Adobe Flash Player"

(or

less /Users/frontrow/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/Flash\ Player.plugin/Contents/Info.plist | grep "Adobe Flash Player"

if you have used my flash upgrader/downgrader script)

if it returns:

1) <string>Adobe Flash Player 10.1 d51 Copyright (c) 1996-2009 Adobe Macromedia Software LLC. All rights reserved</string>

- then you have the flash 10.1 beta 2

2) <string>Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r45 Copyright (c) 1996-2009 Adobe Macromedia Software LLC. All rights reserved</string>

- then you have flash 10.0 final

Plus, please supply your ATV OS REV (e.g. 3.0.2), Launcher Version (e.g. 3.2.3) Boxee Beta Version (e.g. r107xx), Install method (Keiths script? Launcher? Manual) and any other details including Flash version

We want to help you, but you've gotta help us first!

I have current fresh install of of ATV Build 4.0.6
BOXEE 0.9.20.10708
XBMC r28042
The flash version current version.

The issue I am having is while playing online video, I try and play southpark it starts to play the commercial and count down starts then freezes, hulu just sits there, and FOX plays but freezes some times or just stutters.

I'm having these same issues with online streaming videos only. So jumpy that it's unwatchable. Sound during video is fine. Local videos (hard drive & LAN streaming) work fine.

Is there a way to uninstall the flash player so I can try a previous version?

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 d51
Boxee Beta .9.20.10708
ATV OS 3.0.2
Launcher 3.2.4

Sorry developers but streamed (i.e. Hulu) TV shows on Boxee Beta are completely unviewable. Video starts then stutters, audio is out of synch, video stops, and then is stuck. To be absolutely clear:

1. EVERYTHING else on Apple TV works fine.
2. Boxee main menu works fine (though slow to respond sometimes)
3. I have latest Flash installed
4. Network is PERFECT (10 MBS)

Please help

At least others are sharing my frustration. Is it possible to step backwards to the alpha version somehow? That is until the performance is (hopefully) fixed.

Wow. Discovered a curious issue. Flash-videos are stucking terrebly if i'm connected to my htpc through the iPhone remote. Closing the (iphone)app fixes the issue and videos are played back smooth^^

I'm having that issue but with playing videos over a network via SMB, playing AVI files. First, the video seems to take longer to even start playing, then it seems to play fine for awhile and then start skipping and jumping and eventually freezing, as if the AVI file is not getting to Boxee fast enough. Sometimes if just stops completely for long periods of time before it "recovers". This is both video and audio. I first noticed this behavior in the last limited release of boxee and it continues now in the wider release.

I thought it was my network activity but I've even tried late at night when no one else is online in our house.

If you are referring to streamed (online) flash content - The answer is no.
If you are referring to content from a NAS, then questions are;

1. What are you streaming ? 720, 1080 content ?
2. Are you wired or wireless ?
3. Have you tried other formats/ encoding ? Using handbrake ?
4. Have you tried other a different protocol ? SMB vs AFP vs.......
