View Full Version : Sound normalization. Neighbour friendly!

Movies are notorious for having very quiet parts which require higher volume, then for the action sequences it gets very loud.

This is not very neighbour friendly! At the moment I use Boxee to catalogue my media but I play it in VLC or Gom Player because they have Audio normalization functions.

Please incorporate sound normalisation into Boxee player!

This seems like something a lot of people would enjoy as a new feature.

Please promote it on GS:

I agree with your request 100%.

I think a limiter might be a little more appropriate. Set a DB limit and that the sound can't go past.

I think a normalizer gives a weird affect because sometimes it raises the volume of parts that are supposed to be low (or in the background) and makes them to loud.

is there any news for this yet? Come on we've been waiting for half a year!

I'm guess that the progress has been slow on this because this is a pretty seriously common feature built in to TV's these days. The first time I saw an add for TV with this feature was probably 15+ years ago.

The TV I bought for $200 at WalMart 6 years ago came with this built in.

Granted, it doesn't work all that great, which is typical, but it's there, and it does help.

Of course, that doesn't help when I'm watching a movie on my desktop at 3am, so it would still be nice to see this in the software.
