Hi,

When I open a folder of a TV-series, boxee shows me the newest added episodes first. So at the top is i.e. episode 23, then 22 and so on.
That nearly makes no sense. It would be much more practical, to have episode 1 at the top. I know that I can change that, but the next time I open the Series it is in the "wrong" order again. So the default should be "oldest first".
Just my opinion. :)

That's the problem with most defaults -- not everyone will agree what's best. Your approach makes sense to me for shows that are no longer on the air but zero sense to me for current programs.

Boxee needs to do a much better job of a) remembering settings like these and b) enabling these kinds of settings on a per show basis.

To me it does not make any difference if ascending or descending. It all plays the same. :p

Agreed, it makes most sense for it to operate the way you describe.

This type of refinement is probably getting the back-seat while they work on functionality, stability, and performance. Hopefully Boxee will soon be in a good place where the refinement features can start to get some attention.

Ok, I must admit, that the sorting order makes sense, in a way like "Oh, the new episode is available." But, if it's your own material (i.e. a recorded and yet not seen show in 24 episodes), then I want to start at the start.
But like darcilicious wrote: boxee just needs to remember the settings. That would be nice. :)

I actually like having the most recent at the top. The annoying part is if that if I play a video which is not the most recent and at the completion it prompts you to play next it actually plays the next in the list not the next episode and as such it is actually the previous episode.

In that case, a third option would be nice. Like "Show me the titles in the right order (1,2,3...) but jump automatically to the first unseen episode (i.e. 16). Then number 17 would be played after 16 instead of 15. ;)

The most logical order is oldest first. "Newest" first only makes sense if you download one episode, watch it, then wait for the next. If this is what you're doing, why use Boxee in the first place? It's just as easy to use VLC Player, which is free and plays virtually any format.

I, on the other hand, have over 1200 episodes already on my drive. When I go to watch a series, I may watch four or five at a time. Top-down is the logical order.

But to make this discussion moot, the fault here is not with the individual's preference, but with another feature that Boxee lacks. Regardless of the order, Boxee should highlight the latest unviewed episode, then it wouldn't matter. This is something MediaPortal does that Boxee should adopt.

+1 I'm with Timbosteron; oldest episodes should be on top ...

You'll be able to select which (older or newest) in v1.0 -- it's already working on the Boxee Box.
