View Full Version : Uuh, so who wants to write the best boxee app yet?

Ok, so, I just read about Picrap on LifeHacker-- and I think this will be of particular interest to our Canadian, British, and other international friends: here (http://lifehacker.com/5562726/picrap-offers-no-hassle-tv-show-streaming-in-and-outside-of-the-us).

If you just want to watch your favorite TV shows and you're sick of restrictions and messages that inform you you're outside of the viewing area for the site you're trying to stream from, Picrap is a hassle-free TV streaming site [...] Picrap is a free service and requires no registration.

So then, I went to check out Picrap for myself (it's at picrap.com (http://www.picrap.com)) and watched an episode of "Party Down..." The stream worked brilliantly-- came from some "megavideo" site or something, I'm not so interested in the hows or whys, but it worked... Same experience with "Breaking Bad"... Then I noticed I could also download the episode... Picrap wins again... on I go... Some of the videos won't allow embedded playback, but they take me where I need to go, a couple simply didn't work; but Picrap is batting with a pretty high average for me thus far (8 out of 10).

I have no idea how legal (or how seemingly not) Picrap is, I have no idea how long it can last, but for now, it seems pretty freakin sweet. Does anyone have any other thoughts on this site-- is it ok to use? Would it not make a killer app? Anyone want to make it? Any chance of getting the sometimes available download functionality into a boxee app? Ok, too many questions-- I'm just really excited about the site. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a bummer; though, I don't know how it could.

I saw that today too. But, the NaviX app covers a bunch of the shows already with mega video and many others... and should work for non-US viewers.
