Still not working. I installed Silverlight 4 and I have the same problem described above (Netflix freezes on the "Connecting to Movie Server" screen. Netflix streaming works fine on Chrome and on Firefox.

Windows Vista x64 HP
AMD Phenom 9600 x4
Intel Radeon 800GT

Only because Netflix won't work with with Linux yet >:(

I've got a very similar system (running Vista x86) and have no problems streaming Netflix via Boxee.

I'm assuming you've paired Boxee Netflix with your Boxee services at the website? http://www.boxee.tv/services

If so, perhaps turning on debug logging (http://support.boxee.tv/entries/43963-i-ve-been-asked-by-boxee-support-to-send-debug-logs-how-do-i-do-that) and poking around the log file will shed some light.

I am having the same netflix issue on two separate machines. I set my logging to debug. Is it ok to post the entire log?

Looking through the log, I see the request for attempting to start the movie via the call to the API, and when I put that link in the browser it states that the request is not authorized. Odd...

You must give PC specs so we can troubleshoot your issue. ;)

Could be the video card drivers as your card is not supported for GPU acceleration. It is an ATI Radeon Card and not an Intel and it is 4+ yrs old now. Some ATI cards & drivers are not playing well with boxee. Have you updated them?

What about all other Windows Drivers?

YOu could go into boxee settings and uncheck "hardware encoding where possible" and it may help....may.

Hardware Acceleration Compatible cards:

NVidia Cards: Geforce GTS xxx, Geforce GTX xxx, Geforce GT xxx, Geforce 9xxx, Geforce 8xxx, MCP79 (Ion), MCP78, MCP7A
ATI Cards: Radeon HD 4xxx, Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx , Radeon HD 3xxx
Intel Cards: X4500HD (part of G45 chipset), X4500MHD (part of GM45 chipset)

My bad...

Primary Media Center Machine:

ASRock ION 330HT-BD - http://www.asrock.com/nettop/overview.asp?Model=ION%20330HT-BD
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Intel Atom N330 Proc @ 1.6GHz
Nvidia ION (MCP79)
2GB RAM

As for the other machine that is having problems:

HP DC7800
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
Nvida 9800 GT
8GB RAM

Latest drivers all the way around, netflix works fine outside of boxee on both machines.

I am getting "Connecting to the Nexflix movie server" but it never goes any further on two different machines. I have no problem watching Netflix movies in the browser of either machine. I can select a movie to watch in the Boxee Netflex app but it never connects to the server.

My two machines:

Asus 785G chipset with Phenom II X4 3.3GHz
4GB ram
HD 5550 video
Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Gigabyte G41 with dual core Pentium @ 3.3GHz
2GB ram
GeForce 6600GT
Windows XP Pro

Boxee is working really good for me except this Nexflix app problem. I hope this thread don't die until there is a solution.

Anyone have some thoughts?

Weird issues you are having. I think one possibility is that your firewall may be hindering your connection to the servers. Have you tried a clean install of Boxee again?

I installed Win7 Ult 32 on my XP machine (been wanting to do that anyway), replaced GT6600 with GT220.

Fresh downloads and install of windows and Boxee, Silverlight, Firefox, Flash...

It still hangs on the connecting to server screen. I can go back and view the Netflix movies, but it never connects. It is as if the movie is playing. I can stop and go back to Boxee.

Turned the Firewall off to test. Same results. Firefox Netflix works great. Windows Media Center Netflix works great.

I use Ethernet for my connection to a WRT54G running latest Tomato.

Could this be a compatibility issue with Boxee and my network?

Win7 Ultimate 32
Pentium Dual Core @3.3GHz OC very stable
2 GB DDR2
GT220

Are you logged in as an admin when you run boxee?
I had issues as a non-admin user.

paulhaskew

Yes, logged in as admin, and yes on the complete clean install...

Still not working sadly, I have my debug logs if anyone wants them.

Contact support at http://support.boxee.tv and include your logs if you can.

I removed Silverlight and Firefox. Installed them again and activated Netflix again. I did nothing with Boxee since it was a clean install. It now works. Something must have went wrong the first time.

Sure enough, that fixed the issue... I only uninstalled Silverlight and then went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight and installed it again. BAM, Boxee is now playing netflix videos, albeit no HD options yet. :)

I wish I was as lucky as you guys!

Netflix was working fine for me, but I just upgraded my motherboard, cpu, and RAM.

Did a clean windows install.
Did a clean Boxee install.

Now Netflix gets stuck contacting the movie server.

Uninstalled Firefox
Uninstalled Silverlight
Reinstalled Silverlight
Still same problem.

Turned off hardware accelleration in boxee options
Still same problem

Any suggestions?

It's not specific to only you - myself and others are seeing the same issue with NF on the Windows PC Boxee beta app and Boxee is aware of this

Load Flashplayer.

That fixed it for me.

That fixed it for me.

Did the FlashPlayer fix also allow for "New Arrivals" in the Netflix/Boxee beta app to function also

So, as of right now, we're still on the whole "NetFlix is not working again for non-box users?" This is a little frustrating, as there is so much "it's working, now it's not, now it's working again, but back down" stuff on the forums it's now hard to tell if issues are ubiquitous or not.

I'm sort of amazed that with the emphasis Boxee gives Netflix on it's site and in advertising that they aren't doing a better job to make the experience better.

Well, I wasn't able to get Netflix working on Vista or W7 the other day (mid-week maybe?) but just started up Netflix via Boxee successfully on both systems so I'd say it's working :)

Working fine here...

Would be better if you just posted to one thread so folks who try to help you will be able to track responses in one thread instead of across two or more threads...

Same issue just reported here also... http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=170793#post170793

Try what Darci suggested -- and maybe go to your online Netflix account and try deactivating your devices/pcs and reactivating them to see if this might help

Oops - just noticed this is a dupe post

You might check your firewall to see if Boxee is 'allowed' in it's settings -- it's a long shot, since I'm sure other content is OK on Boxee - but it won't but a minute to check it out

Nope...no firewall.

Also if it makes a difference..I am talking about Netflix Canada.

I'd suggest calling Netflix's tech support - and Boxee's tech support if NF can't help

sucks...it's a boxee issue...netflix works fine through the internet.

darcilicious
March 10th, 2011, 05:52 PM
Not necessarily, after all, it works on my Boxee software install just fine does that mean it's a problem on your end?

Sometimes things get goofy on Neflix's end, you really won't know until you contact support.

darind
March 10th, 2011, 05:54 PM
I did...they said via email that if it works on explorer and not in boxee it is a boxee issue.

gmd024

sucks...it's a boxee issue...netflix works fine through the internet.

Well then email Boxee and wait for a reply --- or 'call' NF and see if they have a quicker resolution while you're on the phone

darcilicious

Time to contact Boxee support then...

March 10th, 2011, 05:57 PM
Though since it used to work for you (http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=30097), it's hard to imagine it's a problem on Boxee's end...

darind
March 11th, 2011, 11:04 AM
it never worked for me on windows boxee...only on the boxee box.

darcilicious
March 11th, 2011, 11:09 AM

that post is accurate....searches work...new releases work...but none play. can only see them.

Turns out this does make a difference. Netflix on Windows Boxee doesn't work outside of the US.
