Connection Timed out

This is all I can get when trying to get boxee to connect to my shares.

I have two machines on my network, a 32bit Win Server 2008 machine and a 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate machine.

When scanning the network the boxee only sees the Server 2008 box, even though the Win7 machine has both Samba and UPnP shares which both work fine with my WDTV Live and any other computer on the network.

When trying to connect to the 2008 server I just get Error Connection Timed Out, when trying to access the machines by IP address directly I just get Error connection timed out.

The boxee and all machines are all on the same wired network served IP addresses by the same DHCP device, my linksys router. I can see the boxee from my Win7 machine but it can't see me back.

I have to say it is really disappointing that not much seems to work for me, the VEVO app doesn't push video for me either. My configuration is very normal and pedestrian, and I'm absolutely NOT going to open my machines wide up just because the Boxee Box doesn't work properly with vanilla there's millions of people with setups just like these network shares.

Please tell me boxee team what should I do? I'm an engineer and know my way around some tech. Do I return the box? It doesn't work for me, it can't connect to one share on my network. Do I wait patiently for a miracle or software update or something to fix my issue? Do I open my machines wide open so any device can anonymously access all my files?

Tell me boxee team, what do I do.

I'm fairly certain the Boxee team is aware of the SMB issues as plenty of users are currently experiencing them (but not everyone -- my WHS shares are working fine for example, with a username and password).

In your shoes, I'd wait for a software update.

Not sure what Vevo problems you're experiencing, you might want look for another thread about that and if you can find one, start one.

Also, for your Win7 box, have you read through this thread? http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=21820
