So, my Boxee Box is refusing to boot up all of the sudden - It's flashing between a green and red logo, and when I enter into firmware, I'm unable to do a factory restore, citing error 0x320.

Is my box fried already?

What does tech support say?

Can you share the kinds of things you've done on your box? Have you done any factory restores in the past? disconnected the power at any critical spots? I wonder if you can provide some experience here to help others avoid this.

I had previously factory restored to try out 0.9, then upgraded back to 1.0. After normal use last night, I selected to shut it down and then went to bed. I woke up and noticed it hadn't turned off, but was sitting at the "Do you really want to shut down?" Screen. I then finally selected "Ya rly" and shut it down so I could have it rescan some new files I added to my share folder.

Booted to boxee grey screen w/ logo, green/red flashing logo.

I went into recovery mode, selected Reset Settings, Factory Restore, but factory restore failed at 0%, citing 0x320.

You may need to do the restore via thumb drive: http://support.boxee.tv/entries/328816-how-do-i-manually-upgrade-the-boxee-software

Hi 0x320 means that the boxee.iso you are trying to use is invalid.

Please follow the instructions at http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/328816-how-do-i-manually-upgrade-the-boxee-software to download the latest boxee.iso, copy to thumb drive, and make sure you unmount the drive after the cpy has completed (click EJECT/UNMOUNT/SAFELY REMOVE based on the operating system).

You may also want to try another thumb drive if this happens consistently.

The flashing red and green means your runtime partition has failed or has been tampered with.

If this persists, the unit should be RMA'd as it indicates the memory on the unit has failed.

Sorry for the inconvenience,
Tom

why doesnt someone from admin post a list of the error codes and what they mean...

this could then be stickied and would help alot of people out.

To be thorough, I tried the flash drive, too. It flashed successfully, booted to the startup screen. I turned it off in order to move it back into my entertainment center, and upon reboot, red logo of death.

No dice. Guess my unit failed.

Still waiting for a reply from support but tried all listed in this post and still not getting anywhere. From the 0x315 error to 0x320 error and still blinking back and forth from red to green.

Any other ideas. Little box is barely three months old

i tried all methods...stated above...
odd thing is my boxeebox was working perfectly fine, then today when i got home, dead...

did the factory restore then it asks me to update, which i did, then i get error
i forget which one i get, either 0x320 and/or 0x315 (i've got them both)

then i decided to do the USB method, then get the error 0x315.

I am at a standstill and don't know what to do, has anyone figured it out?
I'm not sure how i would return this particular box, I pre-ordered this, so it is well over the 30-day return policy, not that i want to return my boxeebox, i love it, i'd just like a working one =)

any help would be grateful, thanks!

Please try a manual update again using this thread http://support.boxee.tv/entries/328816-how-do-i-manually-upgrade-the-boxee-software if you are still getting the error then please contact Dlink.com and they will RMA the box for you and get you a replacement box

*update
still dead =/ gonna try to RMA it =(

thats the exact method i tried, did it twice.
i'll give it another go, but with another USB drive.
Thanks for the quick response.

is there a reason why it would just break like that? what is error 0x320 and 0x315?

Also, is there any particular format the USB needs to be in?

2 days ago it started with a black screen after the 3d intro boot screen.

After trying everything fac reset/cables/reflash & latest RC which would fix the blackscreen! and funny enough it did.... for just 1 night!

Now a day later i start up my boxee and instead of the black screen of dead I got the read logo of death! again tested all options but nothing works.

Really this boxee box adventure i started has been a total nightmare..

RMA will take 6-10 weeks, and my best guess is that I will get back a replacement that will die on my eventually as well..

Ain't life a bitch

My box died on me as well. Started out with a black screen, tried a factory reset a couple times, and then got the red logo of death. I could still get to the recovery menu, so I tried updating with an ISO on USB, but that failed with an error. Then I tried doing the factory recovery, but that also failed with an error. Then I was stuck in and endless cycle where the box just boots to the recovery menu right away, won't even go to the normal startup logo anymore.

I did an RMA last Wednesday, and received my replacement unit today. I chose the option to cross ship, where I provided my credit card in case I don't return my broken unit. So the turnaround time with that method is pretty quick. Unfortunately, the replacement I received is rather beat up. The glossy black side is all scratched and scuffed, my original unit was pristine so that is pretty disappointing. The replacement is also the original hardware revision, not the newer one some people have reported receiving. I haven't hooked this one up yet, hopefully it works without a problem.

I think it pretty much depends on where you bought it, the shop I bought it from told me 6-10 weeks, so I ask myself if it would be better to talk to D-Link directly instead of the shop. (this shop also doesn't sell boxee box anymore.. so no exchange possible)
Hope I don't get a scruffy box like you, as mine is pristine as well.

Let's see if I get that newer revision otherwise i'll probably have to RMA the next one as well by time.

D-Link support also sucks (long story)

Eventually the shop agreed to take back the boxee box and fully refund me.

Just bought an HTPC, so I will not look back at BB.

This will probably be my last post here, so I wish all of you with problems good luck and hope you get a better product by time.

I do love my boxee and I never complain before.. but tonight after trying the new Imax Application. My box freeze on a video and after a reboot I got a blank boxee with my setting lost that yet froze again and after another reboot I got a blinking logo and error 0x320 over factory reset..

Now I cannot even got to recovery menu... my box seems to have fried all alone.

I'm really tired to see a complain at each 3post in the forum and I'm always on the "boxee side" but yet... this is the first product I own who does fried alone for no apparent reason..

I don't even care about Netflix, can I just get a working boxee?!

EDIT ->
I just realize the during the first reboot wich lead me to a reseted box, I was launching boxee on my mac too... maybe the two software loading the same account at the same time did something it should not...

DLink products are generally junk had I known that Iomega was going to make a boxee product I would have wanted.

Aim getting the Iomega boxee and throwing DLink junk into the ocean. I just hope my boxee box works until the Iomega comes out.
