Hi everyone. I did not see a thread like this before and I was interested in hearing what fellow users would like to see in future releases of boxee. The program has a lot of potential and I have noticed the following things so far:

Add:

Ability to sort by Genre, Actors, Director, Rating, Runtime and etc

Alternative Seek Method (select seek bar and use <- or -> to move seek cursor by increments or hold down to move cursor at increasing pace)

Integration with TV Guide (Check when next episode of the TV show one is watching is going to air, check show schedules, invite friends to watch tv shows & etc)

Queue function (I think XBMC has this) to set playlist for TV shows/movies.
Perhaps display the playlist as a showtime listing to recreate theatre experience (ie. Movie A 6:00pm-8:00pm, Movie B 8:01pm-10:00pm)

Language Preference setting for subtitles so there is an option to only display languages of user's choice (i.e. spanish) when selecting from Opensubtitles.org submenu

Change:

The way "update source behaves" (does not seem to rescan folder for all files)

That's all for now!

this button is actually poorly named... it means 'save changes'

Good idea. I wasn't sure if the Linux or Mac versions were in the same stages of development. :) I don't think I can edit the thread title can I?

Yeah, that makes more sense. I have an external drive with videos that is not always connected to the computer. After running boxee without the external drive attached, the library no longer shows the videos in the library. An explicit "rescan source" option would be helpful in this situation, and in circumstances where the user wants wants to quickly see files from a new source in the library. However, I really like how the library updates without slowing the system down or being intrusive. It feels very professional.

I'd love to see a categories view option under video... there's plenty of space to use over on the right panel with view and sort. And movies show their categories in the info already, so hopefully it's straightforward to scrape that data and enable a filter for it.

You moderators know that you can move and/or merge threads, right?

I would also say that all ideas and errors etc should be posted at the GetSatisfaction site.
