I know this question has been asked before but i think it should be brought up again. I was just on the iphone app store and to my surprise i found that a xbmc remote app now exists for 5 dollars. I was wondering if it is possible to make it work with boxee in its current state or if maybe in a future update you guys could make boxee compatible (dont know how much work that would be)

anyway thanks for all the great work, boxee has truly been the best app i have used in a long time.

don't forget there is a web based remote in boxee/XBMC.

Just go to Settings (the tools) then Servers, and enable Web Server.

Then head to ip.of.boxee:8888/iphone on your browser or iTouch even, and presto.

i'm not sure about the current mac build, but the current linux version doesn't have the 'web' folder.
i downloaded the source, and copied the web folder to /usr/boxee/web and it works great.

thanks for the clarification, marcel.

seems like it works fine, downloading the source... if anyone can't live without this feature, before the next build.

The web app works fine until you hit play, then it tells you "Error:Unknown Command." :(

the iphone app is more-or-less taken directly from xbmc... as a result it doesn't support all of boxee's advanced functionality, just yet.

is it erroring on everything, or just flash sites? (IE: Hulu, CBS, etc)

Hi,

So, does the XMBC iPhone app work with Boxee? Are there any plans to release a Boxee-specific iPhone app?

Cheers.

The first release of the XBMC Remote was not great, but the v1.1 release is much, much better IMHO.

I've been using it with an AppleTV and Boxee and last.fm all morning and I'm pretty impressed. Movie playback and cover art seem to work well now and being able to create your own bookmarks is a big time saver.

Finally the new gesture screen is quite interesting too, not really mastered it yet.

Can you change the music with the xbmc remote? Without turning on the TV?

I really like the appletv/iphone remote combo since most of my use is for music.

Also, does it work with boxee on the apple tv? Does that matter?

Yep, as long as Boxee is running on the AppleTV, XBMC Remote allows you to operate it without turning on the TV. Since the developer has also posted the source code, I built it for the iPhone Simulator app so I can also run the same interface on my laptop when I'm working. Works great...

I'm running boxee on a macbook pro and I'm unable to connect the XBMC iphone remote app to it.

I enabled the web server on port 8800, but when I connect the XBMC iphone app to that address and port it says there is "No media found" for all my music and movies, even though in Boxee I can browse to my music contents and on the HTTP web page remote control I can browse to it.

I can browse to the XBMC remote control web page e.g.:
http://192.168.30.179:8800

I see the Xbox Media Center - Remote Control page, and I'm able to browse my music and select items to "play" but when I look at boxee it appears in teh Artists UI screen with the loading icon just spinning. At some point I was able to actually have it play a song, but the UI menu would be in the foreground semi-transparent with the loading icon. So maybe even the web remote control doesn't quite work correctly. Any suggestions?

Have you tried going to the "Music Sources" in the '"More" section on the XBMC Remote and choosing the source from there?

Cool, I didn't knew about the web interface. Will check it out today.
But an easy to use iPhone App would rock hell!

got the remote to work, but other than the "now playing" and a few settings like mute .. not sure what else I could do with it. Anyone figured out how to skip songs on last.fm for example ?

I have setup the XMBC iphone remote and it works to some degree. I can access my media, but only going through "more" and "Video Sources". Going directly to TV Shows and Movies ends up with "no media found".

What am I doing wrong? I'd like to be able to go to TV Shows and Movies directly.

Can someone help me?

Unfortunately that feature just doesn't work with Boxee right now. But you can go into Browse and pick shows and movies off that list.

i have the same problem - "no media found". i even put in the full path to the UserData folder, and it still won't pull the media catalog. oh well. if we get that going, it will be HOT.

for now, at least the remote works.

Have you tried Xmote? It works great for me with boxee. It displays the current video playing, and it works pretty well with a built in keyboard as well. Just make sure the web interface is setup and you go to the settings and add the IP of the boxee box. I am running on Ubuntu and it works fine.
