View Full Version : WMV files play but don't load.

The title is a bit misleading but only a little. I have a large number of wmv files in a private video folder. When I browse to view them the files struggle to start to play. The picture moves slowly with no sound. In about 3 seconds, the picture speeds up and the sound begins and both have synced up. The videos play well.

I can live with a little start up delay. The main problem is that the progress bar indicates that the video clip is only 30 seconds (give or take) long. The video continues to play normally and the progress bar continues to update the play time of the clip so that its 47 seconds, then 49, etc. The entire movie will play to the end but I will not be able to fast forward. It is similar to streaming a video over the internet but even pausing the playback will not allow the file to 'load'.

All of these files are stored locally on the same partition as my other video files that have none of these problems. I have a pretty beefy setup and can play the largest HD videos with no problems (inside or out of Boxee). I have even created a new media source that is not private with some of these files and the problem remains.

Thank you in advance!

Lets assume my media is bad and its not Boxee, what is a good tool to debug individual video files?
