boxee will look automatically at your local Movies, Music and Pictures folders on the Mac, but boxee can also scan your PC, storage device or any other device it is able to find on the network.

to add a new folder you'd like boxee to scan you need to:
1. go to Settings
2. select Media Sources
3. select Network Sources
4. select Add New Source (boxee will scan your local network for SMB shares)
5. choose the device you'd like to add, select the folder and click Add Source
6. you'll be asked to provide a name for the new source and choose whether the folder contains Video, Music or Pictures
7. click Add and you're done

boxee will start scanning these folders and every time it finds new content you'll be able to see it in Recently Added on your home scree

it doesn't appear to be adding content. is there a way to check the progress? if i exit while it's scanning will it pick up again next time i start it?

it should start scanning immediately, but i also find that sometimes i had to restart boxee in order for it to start scanning

Normally I use my MacMini for all the stuff I have but sometimes I use ut too on my MacBook. Boxee indeed scans all your local media. Problem is that it also scans my "incomplete" folder. No problem when you use the source view but in the library mode they show up as complete files of course. Most of the times they won't play of course. I also observed that when I deleted a certain file it still would still show up in Boxee a long time after it was deleted or moved to another location.
