I converted a 720p mkv to .mov using visual hub. It plays fine using ATV own GUI. Under Boxee it starts ok, but then video becomes sluggish as audio continue to play fine.

After a while the general navigation becomes sluggish too, until I reboot Boxee ( not a complete ATV reboot )... and it's good once again.

Also, the subtitles again... one time it will list forty available, then it will say there are no subs available for the same movie.

This is my first time testing Alpha software so please let me know if the bugs and issues are not suppose to be reported one by one, which is what I'm currently doing. I don't know if this sort of thing is frowned upon, I'm new to Alpha testing etiquette :)

hmmm that's interesting that it plays fine under Atv fine but under boxee it's sluggish. I never thought of trying .mov files which are made to run on Atv under boxee. I have been wanting .mkv files to work on it but have since figured it as a lost cause.
It will take me some time to produce a .mov file since I have none at the time but I will give this a try and get back to you on this.

I too have the same issue, it's a shame because it makes it unusable for me until HD content playback is improved.

I did get a twitter from Boxee saying they are going to make some improvements. I also get the same issue with XBMC so I think its a general XMBC issue.

keep in mind, apple has direct access to the atv's gpu... unfortunately, that's just not the case for xbmc/boxee, at the moment.

off loading video decoding to the gpu would improve the situation, greatly.

considering what i've seen the clever guys on the xbmc team do, in the past; i'm sure the situation will improve. keep in mind, this exact situation is how the xbmc project started; hacking an extremely property and locked down standalone media device... this is what they excel at!

if team xbmc/boxee can't do it, it can't be done. :D

I discovered the same problem last night so will view only SD material for now via Boxee.
