View Full Version : Bugs in RSS Functionality

Hi,

I would like to get in touch with somebody who is in charge of RSS support for Boxee. I found several strange things (maybe "bugs") while I am developing a script to provide my downloaded video directory as RSS feed.

- Images don't get updated even if a boxee:image is added to the feed, how can I achieve this?
- Instead some old feed image is used even though it was removed long ago
- Boxee seems to do some weird caching of images for items of RSS feeds
- if I change the view I am stuck with a boxes view and cannot get back to the list view
- if I add a custom sort order by pub date that does not work. I can only sort by "default" and "label".
- I can only see if my friends vote to like an item from my feed, but shouldn't I also see if somebody views something from the same feed?
- if episodes from different shows are mixed then the title in list view is confusing because it shows Episode x: Title and you don't know which series this is from.

kind regards
Oliver Drobnik

When does this happen?

this is a bug which will be fixed

This is a feature request however i have sent this to the product guys

Agree with you have added as a bug..

I believe I am using the latest boxee on OSX.

Ok, for all files I am getting information from thetvdb and sometimes the episode image is not yet available. then I push the episode without image into the rss feed. Now I have one example where the image is now in the feed but in boxee it does not show up. I changed the pubDate, I tried disabling caching etc. No, it insists on using the feed image.

According to your docs you have a sort-option date but this does not work properly i.e. does not sort. Meaning I added the sort-option in the rss feed but if you select it the order is totally messed up and in no way date-wise.

for the mixed-series-feed: maybe add a boxee:urn:episode-title similar to the boxee:urn:show-title.

I tried a new thing: I created a feed that has one item per tv show with a link going to an rss that then has only items for this show. I only have item, link and guid populated. The feed shows up in boxee if I select type video on the add screen. BUT when I open the feed boxee does not show a list of the items but tells me that no content was found.

What do I need to do to get such a hierarchy going? I believe other feeds like MTV work the same. Or is this currently not yet possible with the RSS function?

I am I the only one who cannot see multiple seasons of shows using RSS?

For instance, Adam-12 has 4 seasons on hulu, but using the Hulu RSS app I am only able to see season 4 eps 5-24.

Is there any solution to this.

Thanks

I am trying to get an RSS hierarchy going like video.xml from boxee.tv, but something very strange happens:

I can add http://rss.boxee.tv/video.xml on the website to my feeds, but if have a feed of feeds on my own server I always get error #12. I even tried copying your video.xml file to my server, but the problem persists.

So there is an inconsistency: feeds should be accepted the same regardless of their location.

And I would really like to be able to have a feed of feeds because this way I could have an overview of all my TV series and then per series one feed with all episodes.

PS: If I manually add my index feed to boxee it shows up on the same lavel as "my rss". The contents shows up too and navigating to the per-series-feeds works also well. But how do you remove it? That feature is too well hidden...
