One of the key aspects of Boxee that appeals to many people is the easy access under one program to the fantastic longtail content that is now online.

While the strategy of "minimal information" in the early days of Boxee was a good strategy, does anyone else feel that the information to both the consumer for the application and the information to the developer in order to bring the content into the Boxee community is limiting at best? And while I understand why that would be for the consumer due to the Alpha stage, I think the Boxee marketing people need to provide more information to potential rights holders in order to make it easy for them to develop applications. The developer page is completely hidden and I only found it in a buried forum post.

I'd look at the Yahoo widget model as someone that has executed this well http://widgets.yahoo.com/ Their first two "paths" are "find widgets" and "create widgets".

because while most of the attention has gone to Hulu, their are a ton of rights holders that are bringing their content online and Hulu is nothing more than an aggregator. My advice to Boxee is to spend money and time making it easy for rights holders to bring their content directly into Boxee.

Cheers, Randall
