A few of us got tired of waiting for the guys here at Boxee to post up documentation for creating your own repository. I pulled my hair out getting it to work and have now made three repositories using my first one as a template.

I truly believe that it is community that makes a platform succeed. So here is my toast to Boxee.

http://www.boxxxee.com/2009/05/creating-your-own-boxee-repository/

I didn't write up documentation, because it was just easier to zip up the entire file structure and some demo apps/xmls. Just unzip the demo repository zip file into your web server's root directory (or wherever you want it to go), change the relevant info in the xml/php files (it'll be pretty obvious what that is). Replace my apps (in the "download" directory) with your own and.... VOILA!!

I hope this helps. I know I wish I would have had it.

Be sure that you have changed the values in index.xml, index.php, and repository.xml so that they reflect valid values In particular, the <repository> and <url> tags MUST be changed in order for the repo to work. The <repository> url should point at the directory that your index.xml, index.php, and repository.xml file is in.

The descriptor (both in the app and in the index.xml and index.php) for the rss app has an invalid RSS feed. That would need to be modified. The skin app should download fine.

When I click on your link in Google Chrome it tells me that the link is broken. In Internet Explorer I get:

The requested URL /2009/05/creating-your-own-boxee-repository/ was not found on this server.

I can view the entry from the main page of your site, so this is just to let you know that there may be a problem with your blog.

No, I mean YOUR repo. http://www.boxxxee.com/repository/download/com.bx.boxxxee-1.01.zip returns a 404 file not found

Sorry about that fellas.

I changed around some settings on my server which screwed up my mod_rewrite rules and then I overwrote them with old ones this morning. Should be all good now.

thanks for the heads up.

Hello all,

I am new into this Boxee world, and I have a small question regarding the Apps:
when I download and install the software on my Mac, I can watch 206 items but once connected on my Boxee Box, I only see 155 items. The goal is to watch the (for example) TSR app from SVuille (thanks to him) but it is not listed into the Apps on the box...

Do you know how to add some of these Apps on the Boxee Box?

In any case, I am very happy with the quality of this box.
I really thank you in advance if somebody can help me on this topic.
Regards - E. Gaillard

Let's put the message in this thread as well - Boxee will soon begin requiring signing with api keys for apps on boxee box. See http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=28127 in boxee box forum and the sticked http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=28127 on this forum.
