Thank you for posting this information!!

I must also add that we should NOT have to do this. Please add this common sense functionality to the Boxee interface. I have Boxee but never use if because of the misnaming and/or incorrect cover are of 100s foreign films. I just come here once every month or so hoping to see that the functionality has been added. Don't get me wrong, I love Boxee's sleek interface and what it could be (for me and plenty of other users with incorrectly named/covered media) if this was only fixed.

The major shortcoming of Griffith is that I can't play the title by simply clicking a link in the database.

However, the tag sources are excellent. I was able to get pretty good size art for about 95% of my titles. There is a feature that lets you upload your own art to the database.

I would have liked to edit multiple titles akin to MP3Tag which lets you borrow say a year field and span it across the selected files.

What I would be more interested in doing is importing my database into Boxee and letting it associate the .ISO file to the database entry.

I wrote a blog post on this subject. It's less comprehensive, but has screenshots.

This thread is just fantastic info, many thanks to the various contributors.

I do have one question, once I've made the changes to the database will a rescan by Boxee override the changes I've made. I would assume the manual adds it won't (can't see how since it never got them in there in the first place). However, what about manual changes to thumbnails or the strTitle field or anything like that?

To be more detailed let me give an example, if I choose to change the strTitle field in the database for the 1965 movie The Great Race with "The Great Race" (a Boxee scan correctly added this movie however it shows up as "the great race", yes all lower case). So if I fix this will a rescan later just put it back to the lower case one?

I stumbled over an amazing discovery ...
I download tons of anime and their file name formats are kinda dodgy so that it isnt recognised for the most part.

But example i downloaded the dragon ball z remastered series and there are multiple seasons known to imdb.

the file names i download are in this format ...
[DBNL]Dragonball_Z_-_001_-_The_new_Threat_[DR][x264][F26CC67E]

so i checked imdb and realised that season 1 ended at ep ep 30 something ... so inside the dragon ball z folder i created i made a folder saying season 1 and put the s1 eps in there.

Did a scan and now my dbz shows up in the correct folders.

Maybe a start but i think i am beginning to get the hang of it. Just make sure the name of the show in the corresponding folder is the same if its a series. Also try to add season folders.

Thanks to all the contributors to this thread, it was very helpful in getting my new Boxee setup organized the way I want it.

Maybe 10% of the artwork changes I've made don't seem to be making it into Boxee, as Boxee is still showing the old artwork even though the database has been updated to point to different posters. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I might fix it? Is it somehow refusing to release the old art for those movies from a cache somewhere?

Thanks again to the devs and community, I'm loving Boxee and just want to tweak it a bit more and it will be perfect for my tastes!

I just wanted to thank you very much for posting this tutorial. Within about 20 minutes of downloading the SQLite DB utility I had resolved all of the issues with artwork and descriptions that were driving me insane.
