Default XBMC on Boxee Box

Will we be able to run XBMC straight up on the Boxee Box without needing to login and share all that media information with Boxee and D-Link? Ie, turn the Boxee Box into a dedicated XBMC Box?
Also will it be possible to buy the remote seperately?

Short answer is "yes".
The Boxee Team is pushing the Boxee Box as "hacker friendly" (the SD card slot was pointed out as proof of that by Avner). It may take a few weeks or months but it will happen I am sure.

Anyone have any updates on XBMC on the Boxee Box.

I won't be buying one until I KNOW that it can be done, and is a simple enough process, like running it off a USB stick.

Please excuse my ignorance but never running XBMC what would be the difference from running XBMC on the Boxee Box and the current software assuming all bugs are worked out and all wanted features are added? Isn't XBMC a media center just like Boxee Box?

What can you do w/XBMC that you can't w/the Boxee?

XBMC is just far superior for those of us with large local media libraries. It offers more in the way of visual customization through skins and allowing control over thumbnails and fanart rather than a locked down system like Boxee. It also isn't cluttered with useless Tv shows that let you only stream a single episode or movies that no one on Earth cares to see.
