It's been less than 3 weeks since the BBox was released - I doubt that 'v2' of the BBox is going to be any time soon -- imho, I would guess D-Link may even be helping Boxee any way they can to get things ironed out - because I'm sure they don't want a few warehouses filling up with RMA'd BBoxes

Could they be working on the next Boxee Box sure its possible, but you wont see it until sometime next year if not later. To release it any earlier would be killing the current product that came out less than 3 weeks ago.

I would think dlink will look at how successful boxee box 1 is before sinking money in development of a version 2. Dlink has a history of dropping tech products and moving on.

But ofcourse that it won't be release until next year. They have to get as many of the first crop sold as possible and hopefully make a profit before moving on to v2. That is why it was such a monumental blunder to come out with an untested version of the firmware. They could have made a killing for Christmas was it not for that blunder. Hopefully they still will. Until I see Netflix and Vudu playing uninterruted video on the bb I am not going to be convinced that this first version of the hardware is capable.

Considering that bb is as good or better than anything out there even with it flaws it would be idiotic for D-Link not to come out with version 2 with an improved remote, more memory, USB3, faster connection. Its coming. Next summer or spring. Those of you that don't think that bb it's better than any of the other boxes out there just click on Navi-X. That connection alone is worth the price of admission.

you never know, they need to please there customers right now to even consider a V2 next year. So they may release a new revision very soon or people will move on to the many many other devices.

They could always just stop producing the current model and start producing a new model with a better remote and better wireless N.

Sony/Microsoft release new revisions all the time, although they do the same thing and look the same the hardware is different. Even D-Link put out new revisions of there router very often, the name is the same but the hardware/software is not.

Who to say they will not release new revisions early next year. Yeah it sucks for us early adopters but we should know that when we make the purchase.

I for one know from Anvers email back to me that they are working on a new remote and No you don't have to go out and buy a new BBox to get it, it will be made available separately. Plus i think they are more focus on the software right now and must make it for the Christmas rush or they will be in the sidelines as other devices take top prize even though BBox is the best device in the market.

The point I am trying to make is that even if there is a v2 you most likely wont hear about it until CES in Jan. Well get an updated remote before a v2 device comes out.

If you wait 6 months sure you may get another device, if you wait 6 months more there will be another one. You can always play the waiting game as the next greatest device is "right around the corner". If the device you have\want does what you need it to do then get it, if it doesnt then wait or be active in trying to have the developer fix whats wrong.

It's amazing how a simple thread can drift off into the 'deep blue'

I posted this thread to help clear up the confusion about Amazon customers actually having 2 more months to give Boxee a chance to iron out the wrinkles and not to RMA their BBoxes prematurly because the return policy was not understood

And it's drifted off to a point where the BBox version 1 is dead after less than 3 weeks from being released - and version 2 is right around the corner

Take a deep breath, give it 'till late January - I doubt if you'll see a v2 at the CES 2011 - but I'm quite sure you 'will' see v1 functioning much better and the number of anticipated RMAs reduced substantially

Is this the same in the UK

In the US the returns policy seems a lot different to over here?!
