Default Playing .ISO and .IMG DVD Rips Not Working

I cannot get any .ISO or dotIMG dvd rips (done properly because I can burn them to DVDR and my player will run them). The system just exits when playing .ISO and says unknown file/media type, and when trying to play .img it just crashes. Here is an exerpt from the logs when I tried to play a DVD RIP.

THE following is a rip of my logs from when I opened the .IMG file and the system crashed. I didn't copy all the stack traces from all the threads.

WHY CANT BOXEE BOX PLAY .ISO or dotIMG files properly???

do you have ifo/vob files in Video_ts folder ?
with video_ts/audio_ts files on the root of the iso/img image ?
i know, a stupid question, but needed to ask

I can confirm that the audio_ts and video_ts files are on the root of the drive, the exact rip I have was a copy of the gods must be crazy, that one I actually didn't make just dl'd. Only thing I can think of is that it is a PAL dvd rip and I have a NTSC set (Canada here)..

Not sure of the ripper software that was used but I have used dvdfab to make the .iso rip that didn't work...

Your issue is most likely the source where you obtained the content

If you had been ripped it from the original DVD, most lilely DVDfab would have made it playable/issue free -- and AnyDVD would have been the best choice (IMO) for ripping the 'original' content that you own

Well the help is appreciated, I will try doing some more rips. I was in the process of backing up my dvd archives on ISO but it just wouldn't recognize it. Hopefully it's just the copy of the .IMG file I have. Maybe it is because it is PAL and I have an NTSC set it failed somewhere? I duno..

Any idea why NTSC .ISO rips I make are unrecognized/unplayable? Very odd, I made the backup and verified that it played as a DVD-R..

thanks again
