Default About to dump Boxee Box. Replacing unit with what?

As the Boxee Box is now out of the support, updates and it isn't opened to replace the Boxee software, I've decided to change brand.

    I might get Mede8er MED1000X3D

Fellow minded, share thoughts. This topic is started by general frustration after the Bbox was abandoned.

I've been looking at the WD TV Live Media Streamer as I only really care about local content.

It's nowhere near as good as the Boxee. It played 8 out of 10 local media files for me. Boxee plays 100%.

It has lots of sync issues.

Has the mede8er got a web browser and spotify?

There no audio sync issues and it plays all the files boxee does.

You may be thinking about the wd plus which was unpowered for 1080.
Its been discontinued so thats not a factor anymore unless you some how manage to find one.

So the new ones are much better now then?

I tried the WD Plus which was so awful, 2 years ago.

So how many do you have in your collection? All play locally fine with no problems?

If so, well damn, I think I found my next media player.

EDIT: To be certain, this one is good or bad?

Thats the new one so its got the updated ui which can use third party themes/movie sheets extra.

I have about 150 tv shows and 1500 movies.
I uses media center master to get all the metadata and the wd well by default use that instead of scrapping.
Takes about 20 min to find all my stuff and it plays stuff the boxee refuses to play so no issues there.

This is what you can make it look like with third party themes from the wd forum.

If y'all are abandoning ship as well, you should come talk with us over at XBMC HUB. Alot of x-boxee folks trying to start fresh...

Appletv, raspi, povos(Linux version), old HTPC are all still great options.

There's already enough threads in here asking the same thing so I'll just join this one
I use Boxee for wirelessly watching my downloaded tv shows from my windows 7 PC in the office. I wish it had Flash so I could stream sports from various websites. And lastly I'd like to be able to get a local channel or two so I could check out the morning news. What would be best for my needs?

again... for your set up.... xbmchub.com. XBMC has the ability to do all of those things... including addons that offer local television stations for news, sports, etc. not to mention a ton of AWESOME iOS and Android mobile apps.
