But beyond all that played out familiar ranting, can anyone here just tell me this - I really don't know much about programming, and shouldn't have to to own a Boxee, but why can't someone (like Boxee Hacks started to but seemingly couldn't keep up) just use what is in a Dlink Boxee Box as basic hardware, build an entirely better/simplified platform with it and charge money or "donations" to make keeping it and its repositories up to speed worth their while? I'm sure there are thousands of us with them sitting there (mine is just basically streaming what I have saved on a drive, it might as well just be a USB to TV cable) who would pay even $5 each for anything that could consistently just work to scrape/search streaming sites, no?

Beyond that, I hope people buying the new one realize that they're the future version of the jilted, pissed off people who bought the last one. They should refund the old ones against the new ones or at least include instructions as to how to dispose of them properly - recycling? garbage? compost, with the other sh*t?

Heeeeeeelp ok I'm done that feels better already just needed to say it. But really, help.
I doubt many people are buying the new boxee. WIth the piss poor support for the boxee box, who would spend more money on this company?

This forum, and this thread in particular, is mainly intended for remaining BoxeeBox users to help each other.

So if you come here merely to tell others not to come here, you are wasting everyones time, including your own.

Where have you found the Q190 for $249? Cheapest I've seen is $339 at Amazon.

    Hi,
Sorry to get back ON topic, but I have a question that's hopefully easy to answer.
I'm trying to get the fanart to work as described in the screen shots in the first post. I'm more interested in TV shows than movies. On my hard drive connected via USB to the boxeebox, I have a folder called TV. Under that folder I have a folder called Fringe. Under that I have 3 folders - S1, S2, S3.

    \tv\Fringe
    \tv\Fringe\S1
    \tv\Fringe\S2
    \tv\Fringe\S3

Under the S folders are just the video files (eg 20 .MKV files), nothing else.
Under the Fringe folder, I have put a fanart.jpg file and nothing else (apart from the 3 S folders). It's 1440x900, 635kB, and doesn't appear to be corrupt.
But when I open up the Fringe episode list, it's not on the background, even if I go to the Overview section.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

[edit] I had a look in the source and it appears that you eplicitly need "Season x" or "Season_x", not Sx as I was doing. i have updated the folder names, but need to rescan to test. hopefully it's all good now [/edit]

Can you please let me know where in XBMC it takes all the different shows from all over the internet and compiles it into one list? I like finding the show once, and then having options of the different internet sources available for the same link, not have to hunt them out myself.

Especially Canadian feeds, I live in Canada and the Canada On Demand app is broken for XBMC

Also where is a XBMC Bookmarklet? I like to add shows from my tablet and laptop to watch later on boxee.

I would also like better local file support, XBMC doesnt seem to do as good of a job getting all the shows off my computer and displaying them with IMDB info etc. Plus it doesnt add episodes that are available online in the same area as my local shows?

I also use an Antenna with Live TV add-on, is this available for XBMC?

If I want to play a link that is non-standard ie: something from VideoWeed etc, is there a browser in XBMC? Or would I have to close XBMC and load a browser in ubuntu/windows on the device? If I have to use a mouse even once, or exit XBMC even once forget it, its not a true media centre then.

Is there system wide search? If I add an addon, will XBMC have a search feature for all shows within the add-on?

Any support for posting video as a fave on facebook or twitter?

Any watch later feed that shows when new episodes for my favourited shows come out?

You obviosly dont know how to use xbmc properly, boxee has better local file support? I think not xbmc can use different scrapers and adjust the scraper settings, Have you tried 1channel or icefilms addons?

You need to direct that question in the XBMC community forum. You will get a good answer. I would recommend searching their forums for a similar question before you ask though. If you are new to the XBMC, then defiantly get on their site. Lots of good how to guides on almost everything. Good luck.
