Default recursive folder scan?

Sorry if this is a repeat question but i attempted for a long time trying to find this somewhere in the forums.
I just got boxee setup on a my macbook but am still experiencing a few issues (will report later).
My biggest problem right now is that it does not seem to search recursively into folders.

My current source is a folder called "Movies" on a Time Capsule (smb share). It finds all the movies in that folder but doesn't search the folders in "Movies". Some of the sub folders are triologies or split file movies... Is there an option to fix this?

Thanks

hi adecold

regarding split movies (cd 1 & cd 2) boxee should create one movie file for this (if it is not working pm the files name and i will check it) trilogies should create 3 movies it will not create a folder and place them under it..

Default Similar Issue

I am having a similar issue with boxee both on my mac and my apple tv. I will describe my setup in hopes that this will help with diagnostics.

I have all of my Television shows on an external drive connnect to my MBP via USB 2.0, the folder structure is as such (/volumes/media/television/The Office/Season1/The.office.101.avi, etc, etc).

Likewise I have my Movies on an external drive connnect to my MBP via USB 2.0. It is structured like (/volumes/Mac_Storage/Video/Films/Unwatched/Run Fat Boy Run.avi, etc, etc), there is also a "Watched" folder in there.

I have these two volumes shared to my appletv through SMB also.

My biggest question is, how can I monitor what Boxee is updating, or finding. Things seem to trickle in randomly, it finds a TV show for instance and only finds season 2 and 3, leaving 1, 4, 5 alone. Then some episodes end up in "Movies" in boxee. Is there a way to manually edit the media library? Force a full scan, etc?

Thanks.

hi rshetler

we are always trying to improve the indexing and it does take a long time if you have a large amount of content .

You can manually recognize the media content that boxee has incorrectly identified or placed in the wrong folder sometimes it could be naming issues

check this thread out http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=432

currently their is no progress bar to indicate how far the indexing has got to but it is something we are looking into ..

That would be a great thing to have, also the ability to force it to prioritise certain folders.

How often is it meant to check for new content?

Sorry for the late replies... Seems like it does some random recognitioin of recursive folders especially for movies. Seems to do fine for TV episodes () but does a not so decent job on movies in recursive folders. I checked that the names match IMDB. Whats funny is that it randomly reappears and dissapears. I've tried adding some movies manually but it randomly dissapears from "movies" even though it seems recognized when i browse sources.

Also does badly on anime...
I think it would be better if folders can be identified like movies and tv shows (and maybe anime?)

This should probably be in the feature request section, but it applies here as well.

To the point about a "Movies" or "TV" folder content option rather than just "Video" I think this is a necessary addition.

I think this will help in the way of properly identifying content as well as keeping things consistent. The "Wrong Video" function gives you the option of first specifying TV or Movie so I think this should continue over to types of content to be index.
