Description

I just bought a Harman Kardon reciever and connected boxee HDMI to reciever everything works fine other than youtube video. Whenever I end up watching a movie with Dolby or DTS and then play a youtube video from my watch later list boxee can't produce any audio over HDMI, video just plays fine. Any workaround for now and fix in next release would be really appreciated.

@Jas, thanks for the information,
can you please add more details so we can investigate this issue?

What is your hardware setup? (i.e. boxee =>HDMI =>receiver =>TV)
What is your audio setup? (Settings>System>Audio Output) what options are checked on this setup?
can you also describe step by step how you get to this issue?

thanks again :)

Yes my hardware setup is boxee =>HDMI =>receiver =>TV.

Audio setup is Digital HDMI and all options checked.

Let's say I just finished watching a movie with Dolby or DTS surround sound and then I want to watch a youtube or vimeo video from my watchlater list and then video starts without any audio.

In that case to get the audio on youtube/vimeo either I have to reboot boxeebox or play a movie or song with normal sound (i.e. without DD DTS etc.).

@Jas, thank you very much for the information
Please attach a Debug log to this issue.
Settings > System > Debug > Debug Level = Debug
ReStart Boxee, and after experiencing the problem, close Boxee and attach your log file to the bug.
DEBUG log slows down the performance. so afterward, switch the log level back to NONE
Boxee Box log may be found at *http://boxeebox:8080/ under 'Boxee Logs', click on the "Get latest " link. (*boxeebox =ip address of the box)

I get this issue as well, if I watch any local media then try and stream anything (iplayer, youtube or any other content) I get no audio, reboot the boxee and watch streaming media first I get audio. If I then watch local media no more audio on streams....very annoying!

Hey Adam the workaround other than rebooting is to play any non DD or DTS audio/video file which works for me to get audio back on youtube/vimeo/radiotime etc.
I hope we will see the fix to this soon !!

I believe I am having this same issue as well using Boxee for windows. I am using digital audio S/PDIF out from my computer to my Yamaha receiver and I too have all the digital options checked in Boxee. I can play local files fine that have digital audio but when I switch to YouTube, Netflix, etc... I get no audio.

Having this problem as well. The sound on netflix is out so I leave the application and run a local video with low quality sound. I then go back to netflix and the sound now starts to work. I am unsure as to what is making it happen in the first place since I barely use the boxee box as much as other people in the household.

I am also using the official firmware available as referenced by the date of this comment.

did a factory reset and did update, now appears to be working fine...real pain to have to set it all up again but just glad its fixed...if another update breaks it I might just throw it out the window and go buy a Roku or something

went to the new RC2 and its broken again...did the upgrade to see if it would fix my USB HDD detaching issues. No doubt if I roll back the issues will remain...What a Joke!

*edit*
If you turn on navigation sounds it fixes it!

@Adam thanks for the workaround I will give it a try.

But most of use boxee with navigation sounds off I guess . Looks like the audio problems are increasing as boxee is releasing new firmwares. Any word from TeamBoxee on this issue??

This issue remains unsolved on latest firmware release 1.2.0.20310 as well . TeamBoxee please do something about the audio problems. With all the audio problems we can't enjoy BoxeeBox as we should be.

I agree with Jas.
I'm having the same issue with my Onkyo TX-SR606B.
I really don't want to turn my navigation sounds on. Anyway, I'm also on 1.2.0.20310. Let me know if you want some logs.

The workaround I found for this issue is to turn off the 'EDID' feature under the display options and to turn on navigation sounds.
For some reason 'EDID' was really messing with my audio, especially YouTube.
