Boxee hang or freeze when internet connection to boxee server is not responding in a timely manner

Details

Description

I've just upgraded to the rc version, this version is much better and stable, but unfortunately this issue still happens:
My boxee is defined to start a slideshow screensaver from photos in my USB drive, when I leave boxee running, the screensaver starts but after few minutes when I touch the remote to stop it, it hangs and stops responding until I power down the device and restart.

The network activity still works even when it happens so I can still access the files through samba.

====================
also reported by Daniel Martin:
We had some DNS problems tonight with our ISP which caused Boxee to hang.
If the Boxee Box can connect to a network to not connect properly to the scraping web sites Boxee becomes unusable.
It does not respond to remote control commands.

Please attach a Debug log to this issue.
Settings > System > Debug > Debug Level = Debug
ReStart Boxee, and after experiencing the problem, close Boxee and attach your log file to the bug.
DEBUG log slows down the performance. so afterward, switch the log level back to INFO
Boxee Box log may be found at http://boxeebox:8080/

looking at the attached log, it seems like the internet connection was closed.
this could be the root cause of the hang.
are you using boxee wired or wireless? did you disconnect the internet during the time boxee was idle?

I'm using wireless, I didn't disconnect the internet, but as I familiar with my ISP it happens a lot.

could not reproduce using 1.0.3.16779
tried various of disconnecting the ethernet (although the issue claim Wifi) while screensaver and sleep taking place.

you wrote that "The network activity still works even when it happens so I can still access the files through samba."
so, now I think that this is not a "full" hang.

the log has many occurrences of "Internet connection lost" and "Internet connection restored"
the last one is "Internet connection restored"
and afterwards, you can see your remote clicks "CApplication::OnKey"

but a ping to boxee server was taking too long

09:52:04.0330 T:2964323216 M:527290368 DEBUG: WatchDog::CheckIsConnectedToInternet - Check [http://9.ping.boxee.tv/] return [0]. [server=0][internet=1]. [fromJob=1] (offline)(wd)
09:52:06.0306 T:3008494480 M:527298560 WARNING: FillBuffer - no data on connection for too long. aborting operation.
09:52:06.0307 T:3008494480 M:527298560 ERROR: CFileCurl::CReadState::Open, didn't get any data from stream. HTTP CODE: 0

to conclude, the hangs are due to internet connections to boxee.tv server, either caused by your ISP or by long response from boxee server, they should not block the UI in such manner.

My box hangs at least once a week. I never quite know if it'll respond when I press the back remote button after it's been on standby a while :(

I can't get logs of this as it's completely random and I'd have to have debug mode set all the time (plus I need to force restart the box when it hangs so I'm not sure if the log would be lost anyway).

Not sure if it's a similar problem causing it, but I'd assumed it was just running out of memory or something similar, as the box will often get very, very, very laggy and end up freezing as well.
