Thumbnails stop loading after playback or after box has been on for a few hours.

    repro:
    launch Revision3 app (reproduced also with collegehumor and onionnews)
    OR navigate to Shows>Channels>Revision3
    play a video
    skip FF few times

    result:
    video does not buffe, quits back to application, and once going back to APPS screen thumbnails are not loaded on boxee at all.
    only a reboot or switching user resolve this issue.

    original report:
    After the box has been on for a few hours, thumbnails stop loading. This includes all show, movie, app and the thumbnails for popular videos on the home screen. Choosing to shutdown the box from the menu seems to fix the problem, the box doesn't actually shutdown but seems to do a soft restart and then all thumbnails work again. I will turn on debug to attempt to capture this to add it to this report.

I was able to repeat the issue by watching a full episode of dexter and then going to apps. My movie thumbs and show thumbs were loading still, but no apps and no home screen thumbs were loading. Shutdown actually shut the box down for a change instead of rebooting it - I have it set to debug, so hopefully this log is good...

Please attach a Debug log to this issue.
Settings > System > Debug > Debug Level = Debug
ReStart Boxee, and after experiencing the problem, close Boxee and attach your log file to the bug.
DEBUG log slows down the performance. so afterward, switch the log level back to NONE
Boxee Box log may be found at http://boxeebox:8080/ click on the "Get latest " link.

it is empty.. it's missing the boxee debug log file.
try reproducing this issue again and follow the instructions.

More like after 30 minutes. :(

Gave it another 30 minutes to see if thumbnails ever loaded but they don't, just show the loading thumbnail animation for forever until rebooting.

I have seen the same thing happen several times after various activities from extended idle time to use of apps to watching of videos, both on the previous firmware and on latest 1.0.3.17064

Extremely annoying and the only way I've been able to get thumbnails loading again for apps and the homescreen videos is to reboot the boxee box.

I have this same problem although I don't use Revision 3 at all. Problem became pronounced (I only really noticed it, but it may have been present before) after the SP3 update.

This happens to me after watching basically any feature length movie. Returning to the home screen or apps list after, almost without fail results in all image thumbnails being replaced with never-ending "loading" animations. Only way to fix is to reboot the boxee box.

i have also been experiencing the same issue since SP2. it is intermittent but often. i'll play files over my wired network and when i return to any menu with internet generated thumbnails it's just the spinning circle. for me i can rectify the issue by simply starting any internet app or file. usually i just start up the browser, go back to the apps or home screen and everything is fine again. i never shut down or sleep my box and unlike others mentioned, i have never had this issue with the box just sitting for any amount of time, only after playing local files. screenshot and logs attached.

Have seen the same issue. Does not happen every time.
Used techzilla app, watched some video. Left the app, Thumb nails would not load, no app would load. no videos or web pages would load.
Had to reboot the boxee box for things to start working. I am on wired internet net. I have the latest build

I have also seen this issue on occasion. Usually it occurs after I wake the Boxee up from sleep. It doesn't affect the functionality. If I then go into a local video and watch it, when complete and I go back to the Boxee screen - the thumbnails load fine.

I will attempt to get a debug log of this and attach it to the ticket.

is there any chance yonathan can chime in here with an update on how a fix for this is looking? the issue seems to be getting worse for me. twice today i had the same issue as i previously described and my normal remedy of starting any content that is pulled from the internet did not work. like others i am now also having to shut down and restart the box to fix it. what was an annoyance has become a major problem with the usability of the box.

I was able to remedy the problem by going to 'switch user' and then just choosing my same user account. then all the thumbnails started resolving again.

This Issue is espically annoying for shows that have a mix of online and local content because the local content dissapears and the online content is the only content selectable.

I have the same issue as the OP. My box is set to be always on. When I first start to browse shows for the evening, none of the pictures will load. If I restart the box or log off, the issue is resolved until the next day or long idle period.
