Description

if there are any popup's in the website you are browsing via boxee browser, the popup is being made as the main focus and the underlying main page is not accessible.

if there is a way to disable/enable pop up during the time of browsing , it will be helpful .
another option is to catch and list all the popup's resulted from a webpage and let the user choose which popup he wants to actually access.(this method will be useful if a new page is being opened upon clicking of some link on a page)

I fully support this request, it is challenging to browse with popups taking a priority on screen as well as flash ads

Yes, this is a huge problem on say, justin.tv - where they have fullscreen power adds which just takes over the screen. Bloody annoying.

Totally a problem and personally I feel Boxee dropped the ball on this one! A web browser with no pop up or security?? Come on! or even a option of using the same browser I'm using on my pc! like add it to my app list on the Boxee, you got my vote and hopefully they come up with a fix soon cause I will Def return this product Future Shop told me a few lies when I purchased this Beta version of Internet TV..

I find this soooooo annoying that pop ups take over and become the main page in the browser. I live outside the US and Europe were TV companies don't put there content online so I have to use certain "unofficial" sources and they all use pop up adverts. This means I can't access any of the sites or programs as the pop up becomes the main window. It has rendered my Boxee Box useless to me. Please add tab browsing, the option to block pop ups or a warning to ask if the user wants the pop to become the main screen which might be useful rather than just blocking pop ups as some sites the video may be a pop-up. These would solve this issue and should be fairly easy to implement. Or Boxee Box could simply allow the installation of a 3rd party browser app.

The issue is... I watch live-streams of legitimate esports, and many of the websites have pop-up advertisement. Just as I am about to load the wonderful video that Boxee is going to play, a pop-up will automatically force the browser to another page... The worst part is, if the return button would actually work from getting out of the pop-up, it wouldn't be so bad... Please either fix the fact that pop-up forces the browser to view the page, or fix the fact that the "return" button doesn't work after a pop-up changes the page.

Please please please fix this. I live in Canada and Netflix's movie selection is terrible here. I would love to be able to watch project free tv from my Boxee but the pop-ups prevent this. The reason I got the Boxee is because I do not enjoy watching movies on my laptop and prefer to watch them on my tv. Again please find a way to fix this.

An example would be try using http://www.fastpasstv.eu/. Search for anything. follow the links through to the video hosting sites that they give you (i.e. http://www.wisevid.com/gate-way?v=0t3J55tqxuc4) and all the sites have pop ups that then become the main page and takes over the browser, you then can't see the video or navigate to it in anyway. I hope this is a good enough example to see the problem.

Agreed. Extremely annoying. Please add a popup blocker, or at the very least a tabbed-browser.

@Joel, Tabs are NOT doable, sadly:

"Browser runs as software and not hardware accelerated. At this moment, the software is too weak to support this."

As mentioned above,
once the "pop-up" ad is in the a new tab, the browser is directed to the new popped tab instead of the original window.

Please fix this issue. For example, if a browser creates a fullscreen popup in Windows, it can be closed with Alt+F4.
A similar shortcut can be provided for the Boxee Browser running on the Boxee Box. Closing this window would (hopefully) lead back to the original window with the streaming player.
Another example of such a site is www.muft.tv
With fullscreen popups, most of the videos on this site are not watchable. The ones that do no generate popups work well.

This is a very us full feature for the browser which is needed when there are no available apps for these kind of Internet streams.

@Will : well, although tabs will be optimal, there are other crude ways of resolving this issue, at least temporarily. For example, prompting the user whenever a pop-up is invoked.

Very frustrating issue. So many sites have pop-ups and it makes using the Boxee very difficult at times. It really limits the viewing experience and causes a lot of wasted time.

Yes, I have same problem with pop up. Very frustrating using this browser
When I click link to play MegaVideo, the browser focus moves to the Popup, and I loose the MegaVideo screen, when I press browser back button, I'm again on the MegaVideo Link screen, and it asks me to click again, and the cycle goes on and on..
