I can't believe that one of the programmers has not made a file app. Let me select a local file, then provide an interface to search the DB for the correct name and box art. And then let me assign the information.

I would also like a new category for homemade videos. perhaps a sweet little frame capture app for my personal videos to use as box art when I am manually filling in the boxee db information. - Also important would be to store this information locally so if/when a uninstall-reinstall is required the manually resolved file information will be saved and will not require duplication of efforts.

One of the boxee techs sent this...

marcel hass, Feb 03 01:35 pm (IST):

Hi

This feature will be implemented in the future. I am happy with that response as I understand that Boxee JUST reached Beta status and they did a complete overhaul of several areas. I'm not surprised that there were a few feature regressions. I'm just glad the features will be returning.

I have also seen some negativity about this release. I was already using Plex on my MacBook for watching video, so waiting a little longer for the next build isn't too bad for me. If you use Plex, XBMC, or another media center, just stick with it a little bit longer if this is a showstopper for you, as it is for me. They are working on it. There's no need to flame the developers or downplay the accomplishments they have made because of one regression.

On a side note, I am looking forward to the Boxee box. I was pondering the purchase of a Mac Mini since the Apple TV can't handle HD very well. But now I'm holding out for The Box :)
Thu, 21 Jan 2010 01:12:03 +0200 support.boxee.tv/forums/117556-media-files-naming-formats/posts.rss:117556:90011:197330 Ross Peoples http://support.boxee.tv/entries/90011-my-movie-was-not-recognized-or-was-incorrectly-recognized "My movie was not recognized or was incorrectly recognized!" in Media Files & Naming Formats - comment added by James Meacham
@Dave Wells. You get that this is a beta version of a *free* Open Source application, right? You get that the form-factor was intentional, I'm certain, a carefully considered trade-off between branding and tradition? And that people that call other people idiots are themselves just rude?

No?
