But then boxee was back on after I updated it through the launcher.

Now, I'm just adding to a few other posts on here about Hulu feeds not working. Seems like another chapter in the endless saga with Hulu, but i'm getting the same "must update adobe" message, and/or just a blank screen after bouncing back and forth from the hulu webpage screen as before when the videos would actually play.

Also, one last bit.. any news on adding other channels to boxee? like TNT?
Tue, 12 Jan 2010 18:04:12 +0200 support.boxee.tv/forums/117558-operating-system-issues/posts.rss:117558:74649:191158 Jason Goslin http://support.boxee.tv/entries/74649-apple-tv-how-to-get-boxee-working-on-atv3-0-1-2 "Apple TV: How to get Boxee working on ATV3.0.1/2" in Operating System Issues - comment added by Monty Phan
disregard the previous post. doing "everything" didn't include unplugging it and plugging it back in to reboot it that way. it works!
Sun, 10 Jan 2010 09:54:51 +0200 support.boxee.tv/forums/117558-operating-system-issues/posts.rss:117558:74649:189466 Monty Phan http://support.boxee.tv/entries/74649-apple-tv-how-to-get-boxee-working-on-atv3-0-1-2 "Apple TV: How to get Boxee working on ATV3.0.1/2" in Operating System Issues - comment added by Monty Phan
i am going to pull my hair out. i've done everything this thread has said, and i can't get the launcher to appear on my Apple TV. after a frustrating day, here's what i finally did:

i restored the apple tv to factory settings.

i downloaded the latest update (3.0.1)

i ran the patchstick, which completed successfully. this installed the non-working "software menu" on my apple tv.

i connected via SSH and followed the instructions exactly as they appear at the top of this thread. everything seemed to work, EXCEPT when it's supposed to restart the finder, nothing happens, and the "Launcher" heading is nowhere to be found. i am doing this on a mac. although this is new territory for me, i'm somewhat tech-savvy, but no amount of googling has helped solve this problem. thanks!
Sun, 10 Jan 2010 08:51:26 +0200 support.boxee.tv/forums/117558-operating-system-issues/posts.rss:117558:74649:189456 Monty Phan http://support.boxee.tv/entries/74649-apple-tv-how-to-get-boxee-working-on-atv3-0-1-2 "Apple TV: How to get Boxee working on ATV3.0.1/2" in Operating System Issues - comment added by Jeff Tittiger
prior to above i am just getting the return message: -bash-2.05b$

does anyone know why this is happening?
Sun, 10 Jan 2010 02:55:18 +0200 support.boxee.tv/forums/117558-operating-system-issues/posts.rss:117558:74649:189380 Jeff Tittiger http://support.boxee.tv/entries/74649-apple-tv-how-to-get-boxee-working-on-atv3-0-1-2 "Apple TV: How to get Boxee working on ATV3.0.1/2" in Operating System Issues - comment added by Jeff Tittiger
So this is my first time using boxee and i have spent a good part of the day trying to get what many users have said is a 3 min process to work.

I've created a patchstick and have placed boxee on my Apple TV. it appears to be the APTV version 2.x i guess. i know its not the 3.0 most of the users on this forum were discussing back in november.

Next i've located my terminal app and i typed in:

ssh frontrow@ "plus my IP address"

it the ask me for my password which should be frontrow. You love Apple TV. But having successfully installed Boxee on ATV 3.0, you've noticed that the menu screen doesn't look as pretty as it once did. Me to the rescue! You may want to make your Apple TV interface prettier by doing the following:

- Remove the Software Menu, which doesn't work anyway.
- Move the Launcher menu to the far right.
- Move Boxee to the top of the Launcher menu.

The following steps tell you how to do this.

Steps

1) Copy the Launcher .plist file to your Mac. Issue the following command from a terminal window. (You will be prompted for the Apple TV password, which is 'frontrow'.) You'll also need to create the ~/temp/XBMCLauncher directory on your machine first.

scp frontrow@appletv.local:/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/PlugIns/XBMCLauncher.frappliance/Contents/Info.plist ~/temp/XBMCLauncher

2) Double click ~/temp/XBMCLauncher/Info.plist in finder to open the property list editor. Make the following changes:

a) Change the FRAppliancePreferedOrderValue to 9. (This moves the Launcher to the end of the menu.)
b) Expand FRApplianceCategoryDescriptors. Drag Item 2 above Item 1. (This moves Boxee to the top of the Launcher submenu.)

3) Copy the Launcher .plist file back to the Apple TV. Issue the following command from a terminal window:

scp ~/temp/XBMCLauncher/Info.plist frontrow@appletv.local:~/

4) SSH to the AppleTV with the following command. (You may need to replace appletv.local with the ATV's IP address if there is more than one ATV on the network.
